Western Slope Fracking.
In partnership with with Wilderness Workshop, Witness Tree Media created visual stories of the pervasiveness of hydraulic fracturing for natural gas in Western Colorado along the I-70 corridor, the Colorado River and high up on the Roan Plateau.
Fracking operations dramatically fragments critical wildlife habitats that were once roadless areas. It shatters ecosystems and traditional migration routes for a wide variety of animals including elk, moose, mule deer, black bears, mountain lions and the endangered Canada lynx. The chemicals used in hydraulic fracturing negatively impact water sources and escaping gases degrade air quality for both animal and human communities alike. Huge thank you to the generous support of Lighthawk volunteer pilot Jim Grady.
